I registered 3 .co.uk domains with 1&1 as I was told the first 12 months were free and you paid after that.

Now after 3 weeks of registration I have been sent an invoice for the 3 domains for £21.00, I asked if it was a mistake and they told me no I have to pay.

Anyone know what I can do?

Usually the ccTLDs are automatically renewed on your behalf unless you specify otherwise.

1and1 has multi-page splashy ads in numerous business magazines, but never used them. Never heard much good about them, only problems.

It's called 1&1 because it says one thing and means another :D

its the single worst registrar ever...they scam you as much as they can..and nothing you can do..the only reason they are still in business is that people cant cancel their domains and they threaten you with legal action if you dont pay.

They probably have something hidden in their terms of service that you need to at least keep the domains for 2 years and pay up front.
If you fail to pay by the way all other domains you have with them will be disabled.

lol

So 1&1 = 3 with them then.

I contacted them and they said what is free for 12 months is a domain package and not the domain even though I have a screenshot saying the domain is free for 12 months. Just have to take it on the chin I guess.

They demanded I send a screenshot of the offer I am lying about because they could find no evidence, so I logged into my account and took a screenshot of the offer and now they have said it ran out 2 months ago and I should have known but have yet been unable to show me where the expiry date is or was lol
