What is the attraction with whatever101.com domains ?

that's one zero one I think and it means little to me - I'm English so that may explain a few things.

101 comonly reffers to like "info" for beginners.

Like 411 i think.

I agree that there is no attraction with a 101 domain - not to me anyway - or a 411 (was that a joke?)

I just noticed an appraisal a little while ago for a domain name with 101 and thought what was that about.

Domains 101 - It's like the description of the first year course in a subject.
Domains 201 - will be your second year in the same subject

Is this somehow connected to Universities or high school in the states?

411 is a common telephone shortcut for information, though I believe that has been getting phased out over the years
