Namespro is running a 7.88 deal for 15 days. Not good for renewals or transfers.

Anything better. CIRA is discounting and some folks are passing on the savings.

I think Cira has lowered the cost of domains for a timed promotion

below is part of an email sent out ... :yo: Namespro also sent of a letter just saying new registrations are $7.88 for few weeks

.

"Major Price Reduction for the registration of new domain names!

Last October CIRA tried a one month promotion to encourage the registration of new .ca domain names. Due to the popularity of the program it is being repeated again this year.

CIRA is reducing the cost of registering a new domain name by $2.80 and we are passing that saving directly on to you!

dot-ca-registry will be participating for the month of September. Just go to
http://www.dot-ca-registry.ca "

Thanks for that...I totally missed this huge promotion. No one is going to register a new domain to save a couple of bucks...aarrgghhhh

Same here. Doesn't CIRA make the same amount of money from renewals as they do on new regs?

It's best to send a message to CIRA by not capitalizing on this "New Registration Only" discount and push them to offer the same on renewals too. Is anyone here connected with CIRA listening??

Every now and then there will be a GoDaddy code for under $8 .ca registrations (new ones only) but they are few and far between.

If you're thinking of regging a .ca, you won't really find very much lower than $7.88

CIRA has no intention of 'competing with itself' by discounting registrations. It is doing this because most of the other players are also offering discounts on registrations, like .eu at around $2.50 and lower registration costs for .org domains.

As far as the best price goes, If you check here you can enjoy a rate of $7.00 for the entire month.
