What's up with Afternic today?

Parking pages are working, but trying to reach the listing, or their main site, and they generate:

---
We are experiencing a heavy volume of traffic and the server is not available right now. We should be available again shortly!

Click here to submit your request again.

Thank you for using Afternic.

The url shows a dberr (database error?) and that can't be good...???

I even cann't open any page at Bazzar.

I believe Afternic has been down for almost 16 hours already.

My escrow transaction is halted.

That, definitely can't be good.

It would seem so. :\

I pull a feed from them on one of my sites and that's down too.
"The database is temporarily unavailable; please try back later."

I believe there is a Afternic member on our boards who will post Afternic closing soon auctions almost everyday (or weekly?). Perhaps we can know something from him. Check out the auction thread.

Up and running. Escrow resumed.

Cheers

You are correct in referring to Michael Collins.

Afternic is back up this morning. However, stats from the 15th aren't appearing. I'm curious is any of yesterday will have PPC or Parked page stats when they post them after 5pm.

Looks like they had a heck of a problem yesterday!

Good point. Since the parked page is still up and visitors are still able to click on the links, then PPC should still be counted.

However, worry is that since their database is experiencing technical difficulties, they might not have recorded anything at all (not that my domains are generating a hell lot of PPC revenue, but just a thought).

Cheers

I'm not worried about the revenue, as mine was minimal as well. A couple of clicks per day this month. I am worried about the parking stats because I had about 140 domains that had an old nameserver setting from a server I quit using in June, and I was looking to get a jump on any traffic that they may still be receiving. I guess it'll have to wait until later this week when I have more time.

Afternic down again.

My escrow just progressed another step before it stopped again.

Really, is it my escrow? ;-)

- Afternic up again -

Now, to escrow step 3...

Afternic apologize for the recent outage. We recently implemented some changes to our website that apparently caused more queries than we expected and overworked out database. We are planning to add an additional database to handle this surge in queries. Solving this database problem has been the highest priority for today and will continue to be a focus of our team this week.

We were not aware of the downtime as it happened in part because the outage occurred during the move of our offices from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando, which was wrapping up this weekend. We are also changing our monitoring to make it more effective. Thank you for your understanding.
