I too, am concerned - not about the impact personally on "subscribing" to dnforum - but to the effect it will have on new people joining in and freely exchanging ideas (pardon the pun on "freely").

Have any of you used Selfpromotion.com? It's a vast resource of REAL info regarding website promotion and guess what - the guy asks for "tips" and the results are quite good. If your site is good, people will often contribute more if you appeal to their good will than "force" them to pay to be included. He has written a paper on the subject and analyzed his own success with simply asking for contributions. See his paper at
http://tipping.selfpromotion.com/?CF=
and then check out his very worthwhile website at http://www.selfpromotion.com/

A out-of-box idea that already works for other sites!

P.S. Note in paper how he reports he often receives "tips" of $50 or more. Interesting eh?
