I am trying to get a good idea of my traffic, and this the first time I've really looked at my stats in depth. My question is, I have 2 different stat counters on one domain, and they are giving me 2 totally different numbers! Which one do I trust? Here are the January 2005 stats on each:

Awstats
Unique visitors: 73
Number of visits: 76
Pages: 101
Hits: 122
Bandwidth: 85.07 KB

Webalizer
Total hits: 553
Total files: 133
Total pages: 353
Total visits: 324
Total kbytes: 99

Any help analyzing these would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't trust Awstats for stats no-more, that calculate it differently and wrongly, Webalizer all the way for me, only thing I use Awstats for now is looking at the referalls.

Yep, thats what stopped me trusting awstats :D

And now I have spoken to several people including my current host I am positive Awstats just calculates uniques wrong, thats why whenever I buy a site if I do I will always ask for Webalizer stats, not Awstats.

wow it seems that there's a lot of differing opinions on this topic. I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with stats, now I don't feel like such a bonehead.

thanks for the tips!
