Riddle me this one Batman! First one to post the answer tonight by 8:30pm EST gets a quick 500 DNF$ Good luck!

Gloria and Sue are identical twins (to each other) but happen to live in different parts of the world. Gloria says to Sue "Last year you were only 16 on your birthday" Sue replies "but next year you'll be 20 on yours" How can that be?

Timezones

Both are 18 years old

Gloria
11:01p
12/31/04

Sue
12:01a
1/01/05

Sue says last year you were only 16 on your birthday. To Gloria this would mean 2003 which she was 16 b/c currently for her it is 11:01a on 12/31/2004. Sue replies, "but next year you'll be 20 on yours" meaning 2006 b/c she is currently in 1/1/05.

One of them was kept frozen for a few years shortly after conception while the other was carried to term in the mother or a surrogate and born. The ages given for each are only legally imputed ages. You could have a situation where one sister has already retired to Florida after having had numerous grandchildren, while the other identical twin might just be starting the first grade.

Wow making it too complicated.

Maybe one of them used a time machine to travel in the past and spoke to their twin sister. This way in reality the one was older and they visited the other in the past who was younger at that time.

I am assuming time, because if they are talking to one another they aren't between 16-20 inches tall. The smallest have been around 30 inches "small" :-P

It took me 30 seconds.

Only one result when you search for "Last year you were only 16 on your birthday"

:)

Sorry, I just awoke from a long winter's nap

Being late I ran to the forum and felt like such a Sap

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

a post from jdk, he had the names mixed up, but the answer was clear

Congrats and 500 DNF$ sent to jdk. Jonathan always right there with the right stuff, I had tried to Google it (in quotes) as well but didn't find it so thought I was safe. Found it on Google from your post though.
