whats the harm in taking a gamble with a 1000 bucks. Most of us have lost much more than that in bad regs and backorders

Nothing at all... I would rather spend a $1000 on generic domains than blow a $1000 on lottery tickets, I like the odds much better.

Agree, I hope we dont see members hyping .Asia for this very reason, I think many newbies are losing a lot of money from hype and misinformation of certain TLD's, the most obvious; dot mobi, And their too embarrassed to say anything about it.

Yea, there are some, but the ones i got, i did pretty well. we cant just say .mobi didnt help...

Yea, im embarrased regging a few, but for the others, i did alright! :)

Hi,
I looked at the site you mentioned above asia.asia. Watched the ticker of completed auctions. Saw that several generic names had already sold Feb 18, for many multiples of the reg price. I find that to be a little confusing in this "fair and equitable" process. It was my understanding that all of the prior periods - Sunrise, etc were for companies to protect their trademarks etc. The Landrush phase which began Feb 20 was for all generic names. So how can a generic name like cars.asia, etc. have already been reggged, gone to auction (I'm sure there was more than one registrant fo cars.asia), and sold on Feb 18?

All the best,
Ted Sudol

Cars.asia already taken; check here:

It is sunrise registered name.
