If in this market you are able to close a deal for close to a quarter of a million dollars, then I can easily see some sales in the millions when the market starts to boom again.

I would say it's a very wise decision. Billions in R&D money will be spent in the US alone this year in the area of genetics and nanotechnology. Buying these names would be a drop in the bucket for one of these research firms. From a branding perspective having www.genetics.us would be huge.
