Bulkregister still holding onto old expiries

I checked the whois for a name today. It is owned by Bulkregister and it expired Dec 2001. Hey, I thought that registrars had to get rid of those old expired domains. See below. "BulkRegister.com - domain for sale" Wow, I wonder what they want for the domain. It's just a person's name. Would anyone agree that BulkRegister's business practices leave much to be desired? If so, they should clean up their act. I know that people have left them in droves, but they still survive.

if they can hold them and its legal or allowed under contract then i think it will become the norm as reg margins shrink and they need new source of revenue.

i was under the impression they could not and had to drop but not sure on it and where would this leave wls if reg can hold and sell names

Excellent question, Whois-Search. I hadn't thought to check. Note that NSIRegistry shows a different expiration date. I guess that's how they get around it? (Sorry for not giving out the exact domain name. It's a relative's firstlast.com name, and I might want to grab it some day.)
