I make regular calls to the US from Australia and it is a little pricey.

Can anyone give me a URL for a few companies in the US where I can sign-up to make calls from my home PC via the Internet to landlines in the US.

Thanks

i use to use net2phone a while ago. they're not too expensive, $.02/minute and quality is ok as long as you have a DSL or faster internet connection.

wouldn't recommend with a dialup.

good luck!

newly launched is a p2p voip application that you may find useful for contacting friends in the US

its called SKYPE (www.Skype.com) and is made by the same guys who made kazaa but they are claiming its spyware/adware free.

Further to this investigation, MSN messenger has an integrated function where you can sign-up with specified providers.

They are:
Primus
KT
CallServer
Net2Phone
connectHere
as well as other regional services

Does anyone have feedback on these providers.

Thanks

eh scoot
Have you tried the cheap pre paid call cards that ya see advertised at backpacker places?

I use www.go2call.com / www.go2call.co.uk

I use it with a stable 56k dial up connection.

The quality is pretty good, although there are the occasional blips. You can't really surf and listen at the same time on a dial up line.

You can ring most countries for varying prices. Calling to US is US$.035 per minute. Calling to UK is US$.04 per minute. You have to pay a minimum of US$10 at a time which last for three months.

Yes skype is really good, I use it for some weeks no, It`s very popular in estonia, because there is so much talk about it in newspapers and tv,
Another good work by estonian programmers the same guys who programmed kazaa also :)
