my year end holidays once again!
that gives me some time to think on hows, whats, whens etc

i have many hyphenated domains and was going through the domain sales thread.

i have seen not many, but still few companies who uses hyphens in their names.
i have seen very few domainers who takes hyphens and
the tools to appraise the domain value has the logic built to decrease if hyphen exist!

if the hyphenated domains can ever have value that can sell it to 6 or more figures..
then it all is with the decision of the browsers

yes, you heard it rightly, browsers.. what happens today when we type say for example:

"barack obama".com
the browser changes it to "barack%20obama".com resulting in error.

now, if the same space is interpreted by the browser as "-", it will show
"barack-obama".com

wow! so, can the domainers life can be changed if the spaces in the IE is interpreted as hyphens?
yes, the main benefits i will see are 2 or more keywords typed by the users..

i am not going to anyhow file patent to it ;) but suggest how you find this idea to be?
will it benefit the domainers and domaining industry?

i will love to hear on this..

Yes they can. But unlikely in the .com version. .DE have had some GREAT dash sales with frequency. I doubt any popular browser would adopt a space resolving to a dash. If anything it would be to the non-dash equivalent. I avoid dash domains but words like 3-D are clear exceptions.

I think we should start a petition to have this adopted as a standard...it would widen the market for us...I mean, make things easier for the end user. Not that I am biased or anything (owning web-server.com)!!! :)

Aside from this and to your question regarding six figure sales, I think it is possible but the 6-figure dash domains are very very few and depend on the right buyer. For instance, e-mail.com or web-hosting.com may be a possibility...the first because it is the correct way of writing it and the second because of the high click-thru rate with any advertising for the domain.
