The time is now 4:34 CST (Central Standard Time). Daylight saving time will begin next Sunday, at which time the clocks will be set forward 1 hour. So if this were next week, the time would be 5:34 CDT (Central Daylight Time).

Instead of using CST's you should use GMT -##:##. Its much easier to tell because that way you only need to know your GMT and subtract the other persons.

Someone has to subtract or add always unless you're in the the same time zone referred to. GMT is not easier for me. It's easier for people closer to or at GMT.

What you talkin about? I'm GMT -05:00. If someone says they're GMT +08:00 then I can easily tell the difference in hours between us.

I'm talking about it's 22:35 here now. If it's 04:35 where you are, CST time would be YTZ(your time zone) -6.

If it's 05:35 where you are, CST time would be YTZ -7

If it's 21:25 where you are, CST time would be YTZ +1

Someone has to add or subtract. I don't want to.

It depends on who is the more powerful. GMT is the MEAN time when Britain was the centRe of the earth; later, that came to be Eastern Time when New York (U.S.) took over. That's why you hear most about EST/EDT, more about Pacific Time and less about Central Time.

The truth is: those who are less powerful have to do the calculations.
