Disclosing stats to someone anonymous

This past week I've had the most domain inquires I ever had....Approx 1 to 4 per day, when I normally receive zero to one... Most are from Gmail accounts, so I assume their resellers, I almost always quote high and work my way down, most of the time I never hear back which is OK, But when I do hear back, I'm asked for traffic stats and revenue.

My question is; Do most of you give stat information away to somebody hiding behind a free email address, who is completely anonymous? or do you ask questions and gain information first?...

Every time I ask for info, they go on the defensive.
