I am not sure if anyone else notices this, but DNF is always crawling. Is DNF set up on load balancing servers?

I think DNF may want to invest a litttle $$ to improve its quality of service. I can't see how people browse at the times the site moves slow.

I am on an OC3 connection so I know it isn't my connection.

Hey Guys,

Im using cable and cannot find it to be as slow as some of you are suggesting. Im using cable from home and it seems fine.

We will discuss with our dedicated hosting providers to see if there is an issue, but I can assure you the servers we are running are one of the most enhanced ones around as well as CPU usage seems very minimal.

Its dedicated to its own server so we are not running anything else with it.

However, as it seems more than a few are affected, its something we will look into.

Thanks for the posts.

Huseyin,
This post took 6 seconds to refresh. Bandwith or computer power are not an issue for me. It would be something on your end. Mabye time for new servers or more bandwith. PM me if you want a screenshot of load times compared to other sites, From NYC on a major Black Fiber backbone.

might be an idea for all who are having a problem to give there location and show a tracert and the time that it was slow if at a particular time of day that way the admin can find if there is a problem with the route to the server through certain networks or if it is the server itself

Stevey problem with that idea is the Internet is the most redundant network in the world. There is hundreds if not thousands of ways in which routers will direct traffic to get to the same place. They are set up for the fastest route. Only thing is mabye there DNS servers themselves are lagging. Dunno but it seems a little better late at night or very early in the morning, Just ran a traceroute never went over 34ms.

Where is DNF hosted from? I have no problems browsing other forums like NP,WHT, CF, etc or any other web sites as a matter of fact.

Use this: http://www.iwebtool.com/speed_test

Takes 0.06 seconds per KB to download, every other site I compared it to was faster than that. Also total time for load was 13.6 seconds, which is really really bad.

Overall, crappy server.
Yep just ran it look at comparison I will paste below
#
Domain name Size
Load time (secs)
Average Speed per KB
01 microsoft.com 210.83 KB 2.29 seconds
02 dnforum.com 240.1 KB 9.8 seconds

Taking 30-40 Seconds per post here in college and the connection is pretty good here...

Suggestion:
Would it be possible to have some really basic template installed on dnf? Maybe just html, No css or images for users wanting to browse the forum fast.

Also a suggestion, remove all the users online from the index and put them in a seperate file which will improve our load times? Remove banners? Try somehow to remove unneccesary html etc

Some feedback from me as well.

It's definitely a network / peer issue. When I was in Greece (for the past 10 days) on 384kbps DSL it was loading faster than now, in Florida, over a 5Mbps Bright House cable connection.

That's Florida for you. I have a 6mbps and it is slow at times. Guess that is what you get when we have a limited amount of lines in our state. When one goes down we are screwed.
