DNForum Slow Loading

I've had problems with the forum loading slowly for some time now. I thought it was just my machine but I have since tried it on numerous machines and sometimes it takes over a minute to load the main page. Other times it just crashes the browser. I've used Firefox and IE with similar results. Am I the only one that seems to have this problem? I visit the forum far less than I used to because of the aggravation and it's possible that others might be hesitant to visit as well.

You're right. The DNF site is loading quite slow since several days now. But
I'm sure that the tech admins will fix that problem very soon. Don't forget that
the forum grows quickly, which produces tons of traffic.

When I watch the status bar, it seems as though some of the slow loading is because of ad servers or the ads themselves. :huh:

It's an ongoing problem they've been trying to optimize. It's slow for me too.

Well - it was good to see it was not just me....

Even the PM pages load slow

It's because of all the frigin scripts and advertisements that they're running no matter what account type that you have paid for.

I have to use unsafe IE because this site crashes FireFox.

Yeah, I use Firefox mostly as well and it usually just locks it up. But, the same thing happens with IE at times too. It usually gets to the bannerpages.com data transfer and then just locks up or takes about 60 seconds to load. It sucks and it keeps me away from DNF most days. Perhaps someday if it gets fixed I'll peruse the board more often but until then it's just too frustrating waiting for it to load.

Dial up?? I can't imagine what that must be like. I run a server out of my house on a 6.5 MBit DSL connection. Even with that DNF loads unbelievably slow. Looks like some changes have been made today though so hopefully that will alleviate the problem.

For those having problems with FireFox hold down your right mouse button and select "Block images from dnforum". That *should* make loading much faster .

You can also do it this way...

Preferences > Web Features > Load Images (Exceptions) > Add site

Logout button on left does not work. Just loads up the old logout image.
