Do you own/carry a gun?

There is only one way to find out if I carry a gun.

I went to a gun club once w/ my father in law. I fired an entire clip w/ a 22 pistol at a target about 30 feet away. I didn't hit the target once.

If your shots are low or low and off to the side, your probably anticipating the shot and jerking the trigger.... I did the same thing at first, You might want to try a revolver with a lightened trigger pull, Practice with it first, then move to a Automatic.... Also, make sure you get the right size frame for your hand.... Dont give up that easy.

Never have and never will, I live in South Africa and down here criminals are more often than not looking for weapons and owners of firearms are targets.

Owning a firearm is such a huge responsibility and with kids in the house, I just don't want one around.

The world hates us because of the jerks and assholes we can be when we are guests in their countries and we carry a chip on our shoulder or have an attitude that we are better.

When my wife and I travel, we blend in and are anonymous. We absorb the culture, the language, the local customs, the cuisine.

I don't think owning a gun has anything to do with the above. I can be a responsible parent, pet owner, and gun owner. Or I can let my kids be crackheads, let my dog shit in your yard, and rob banks or do drive-bys.

It is all about responsibility and accountability.

I misspoke. You are correct about our attitude that we as guests exhibit abroad (and even our government appears to employ). Yet it is strange that Americans kill themselves with guns at a far greater rate than in other countries, although Brazil & Mexico are close.

I'm a horrible shot so I don't carry a gun.

I have dogs that are protection trained and I sleep with a katana under my bed (sharpened, of course) plus I know which swords on display in my house are sharp.

You should all live in the lake district in the uk !

Trust me, that wasn't the first time. 22 rifle in Boy scouts (wow, years ago!) I was also a horrible shot.

Now, I was good with a bow and arrow, a crossbow, and a blowgun.

But, I like my swords.

Also, I don't plan on needing them, my dogs are protection trained and that is the only weapon that can't be turned against you.

I've never owned a gun, but being Scottish and having worked in upper management type jobs I've done my fair share of the old hunting, fishing and shooting that goes on in Scotland.

I've twice found myself under threat from someone yielding a gun, and both times it was the fact I was a Scotsman that saved me some pain.

Once in Northern Ireland....I stopped to give first aid to a bloke who had been given a beating outside a night club. I ignored shouts from those responsible to leave him to die and I ended up with some sort of handgun pointed at my head. The moment I spoke they recognised my accent and they departed with the words "Your lucky your a Scot"

Second time was in Philadelphia, I had to spend a night at the airport waiting for a flight and decided I'd head into the city to go walk about...being young and naive at the time I thought I could just go for a stroll pretty much wherever I liked, but I found myself down a back street and facing some guys who wanted my wallet. No gun was pulled, but he made sure to show me it tucked in to his jeans under his jacket. I said I would give them all the cash I had on me, but that I needed the other things in there..."You f*cking English" or some phrase to that effect prompted me to point out I was Scottish.....I ended up being allowed to keep my wallet, ended up getting a laugh with the guys and bought them all Pizza.....once of the most bizarre situations I have ever been involved with in my life.

I don't agree with gun ownership and I don't agree with keeping attack dogs. I do however understand why people might wish to do these things, it's just extremely unfortunate that society across the globe is getting in such a state that people feel they need such things just so as they feel safe.

The problem of guns does exist in the UK and is probably wider spread than most like to believe. I have no desire too purchase a gun, but I know that I could have one within a couple of hours if I went looking, and that's in a fairly quiet city in Scotland.

I own plenty of guns. (Would you expect less from a Texan ).

I grew up in the sticks in Texas where hunting and fishing are about the only things to do, part of the culture really.

All my guns were bought and used for hunting but they're locked in a safe these days. I'm not much of the hunting type anymore.
