Does anyone go in the 'chat room' anymore?

I have been away from domaining for a few months. I literally managed to check in only a few times to check domains, etc. So I am WAY OUT OF TOUCH.

When I was regularly here we used to get half a dozen to a dozen members drop in the chat room at a time, but over the past week I have dropped in many times each day and nobody is EVER there! (Or of course it could be that I am suffering from some personal hygiene problem I don't know about! :sigh2

Anyway, just wondered why members are not using the facilities, especially when they can be a good way of sharing ideas, sparking off business discussions, and of course giving a few minutes of light relief from the research and buying/selling efforts that domaining involves?

Very rarely will you see anyone in chat. Its usually dead in there and is a useless function anymore.

I think it would be cool to have chatroom auctions like once a week or w.e

i think it would help if dnforum showed the number of users currently in the chatroom near the top of the homepage like it used to (from what i remember) i think this was lost when the site was reskinned/upgraded last

perhaps, DNForum leadership could conduct a monthly real-time "Chat Spotlight" with a special guest speaker -- (i.e. Mr Rick Schwartz) -- opportunity to push/showcase their brand (i.e.TRAFFIC) throughout DNForum --

Domain chat started to fade away big time when Greatdomains and Afternic closed their highly popular chat boards (frequently with about 160 on them at same time) without notice to anyone roughly about 10 yrs ago. Ever since then it has been very slow or worse. It will never come back to anywhere near its glory days.

i've been asking for admins to restore the "who's in chat "feature for the longest, but...

trader: I remember the fun we had over at the greatdomains.com chat and it was very popular as you said. Special events were some of my favorite times there with well known guest "chatters" from the domain industry announced about a week in advance and promoted by the adminstrators every day until the event occured. Might work again here if the ops were interested in promoting same, etc.

Far from new. The trend has been ongoing for about 10 years and will never recover, imo.

Newer domainers can't even imagine how popular chat was back then.
