Domain Buyers?? do they exist at DNF??

I'm primarily a buyer and i can say there is a whole lot of garbage to get through to find the good names here. Either bad domains or decent domains with huge expectations from the seller. Like names I'd pay $200 for that they are saying 'looking for xx,xxx offers' etc. Lots and lots of that around here. As if this place is crawling with dumb end users.

I think the lack of buyers is based on a couple factors

1.) Domainers with bad domains.

or

2.) Domainers with good domains but totally unrealistic expectations.

There are buyers for quality domains at reasonable reseller prices.

yeah happens all the time, regardless of how specific and insisting on meeting the requirements you are. I've learned to ignore that

yes im sure there is junk, but at "free" forums ive sold high XXX and here just low XX.

maybe because of the less cluttered forum structure or better usability (try to find a link to your recent threads here, no not your recent posts, the threads)

That happened with me a few times also. Just what the buyer wanted, and it was completely ignored. Don't understand why they waste our time with it then.

I always buy domains here on DNF that fit the following criteria:

1. Rarity
2. Age
3. Low asking price to potential ratio

I've bought domains for $20 that I resold for thousands of dollars. I've also bought domains for thousands of dollars. It's all a matter of being selective and seeking good deals, all while maintaining a good insight on what constitutes a "good deal".

Sellers will quote things like 'great potential', 'exact google matches', etc where in reality the domains receive little to no traffic and negligible revenue. Buyers however seem nowadays to completely ignore these things and buy solely based on revenue multiples. In my experience currently domains seem to have no inherent value (generic/brandable etc). The market seems to have shifted to low-risk investments. On the opposite end sellers who do have earning domains are loathed to sell them at the low multiples being offered. If your domain is anything but a premium nowadays my advice is either develop it or accept it's unlikely to sell on name alone - I doubt the layout of this forum has anything to do with lack of sales.

It seems to have been a trend and people wanted it listed.

Let those viewing spend their time digging out the stats through their countless sources.

We also have to keep in mind, its primarily domainers here, which means very little or none end users. Not every domain is Premium, Rare etc.

I created a WTB thread, got a dozen or so PMs but only a few good domains, did buy 2.

3 Points:

1-With this economy most buyers including me have changed to sellers.
2-Of the xx,xxx and xxx,xxx sales I have had, all were to end users that eventully came to me.
3-Forum structure will not dictate whether you sell a name or not, the price will.

Domainers. Must successful domainers included. Selling your names here is like to sell bread to baker. They like talk about product taste, flavor, new recipes but they need realy good reason to buy from you bread.

Hasn't that always been the case?

Has anyone seen that show Pawn Stars? The forum is a little like that as far as selling goes. If you have a decent name that a reseller believes he/she can make a good profit in the for seeable future...or at least can see a great potential in...you can get a sale but it will be a bit of a steal for the buyer because they are taking the risk in having to hold the name for a long period of time. If it is a great name, that is rare, valuable to many, and not seldom seen...you will get a better price and there are definitely buyers here who will shell out bank for those names....but we do not see many of those.

Most domainers are not realistic with their portfolios, they think all-good-domain-name.com is worth 5k, when in fact it's worthless.

I agree you don't sell bread to a baker, people need to get out on the street and market to someone that doesn't already know how to make bread.

i sold 3 domains tuesday from a single thread in about 30 minutes... on another board

but those same domains were posted for sale here in the past and i didn't even get an offer
