I am working with snapnames to ensure no customers are left haning as a result of me closing down domainsnaps.com and cheapsnaps.com.

I will post updates as i get them.

-=DCG=-

So what will happen to our active snaps?

DCG, I am glad you don't run an airline or commuter train service.

Instead of warning people that you plan to close it down in a couple months.
You say you are just shutting the doors now.

So, are you also going to do the same thing with DNF?

All of sudden you have a problem. So, you quit and leave everyone stranded.

The sites will be re-directed to snapnames.com support page and I will arrange to get anyone with any snaps or snap renewals left a snap directly with snapnames.comb]

ActNow,

As Sharpy stated below, nobody will be left hanging or stranded.

Actnow, don't worry your snaps will not disappear.

I only have 3 snaps with you. So, it is "no big deal".

I was one of your first customers. And, I had a lot of problems.
I was your guinea pig. But, I "cut you a lot of slack".

My complaint is with communication. If you had a problem. You should
expressed it here and/or on the site. Ironically, Luc was one of the best
customer service communicators in the business.

You just don't tell everyone that you have had it. And, you quit.

That is why I expressed my concern regarding DNF. One day, you will feel that have had
it with DNF and you will quit.

'One day, you will feel that have had it with DNF and you will quit.'

Since you feel you can read the future you should buy a lottery ticket.

... and I do agree Luc is a class act.

It is not my nature to quit.

But, you have already put me on notice when I expressed my concern about all of the people getting band like Whois-search.

Where in that message did I say you would be banned or should quit?

this is pointless.

I am 100% positive that you are not going to get screwed out of your snaps or anything like that with DCG. Business is business. I know you have a problem with the decision, my only recommendation, is for you to open your own business and learn what it means to make critical decisions. At this point you will understand the business owners perspective. No hard feelings, have a good day.

Classic, I really didn't think I would be screwed out of my snaps.
And, it really is not a very big deal.

And, I probably couldn't handle making all of those "critical decisions".
So, I guess I should stay out of the business arena.

Thank you for the advise.

Well ... to be fair, I wouldn't expect my service provider to "discuss" THEIR difficulties (if any) with me as a client. Nobody "likes" to quit, but when it's time to do so, you'll have to do it. That's business, AND that's life!

Adam is actually being nice and communicating right here and now with his clients. I guess you probably haven't been through situations where companies simply shut their doors and leave their customers in the dark. And I can't really relate all these with Andrew (Whois-Search) at all?!

While I agree that communication has at times felt lacking here at DNF (or related venues), I have to respect the fact that there is a lot going on, and especially... that substantial *effort* IS being made, even if its not always *precisely* the way I'd want it. DomainSnaps and CheapNames aren't airlines, or they'd be subject to regulations as to how they can be handled. For what I've paid at DNF, I really don't expect too much. Unless your "Exclusive", I really don't think any of us should. If I ever get to the point where I'm pissed beyond all reason, I'll quietly express my feelings directly to those who need to hear it, and probably leave and never come back.

Sorry to hear about the closings, DCG. Got the impression things weren't going well with them.

It's very unfortunate for all of those who are involved but personally, since POOL came on the scene, I have been wondering just how long anyone offering "snaps" would be able to continue to offer an effective service.
I don't think that this will really come as a great shock to many.

Ok, I've got some good news. Adam and I came to an agreement and one
of my clients is purchasing the 2 sites.

This is the same guy who owns NameSniper and a few other domain services.

I figured that it may be a good idea to do this since closing the sites down
will generate a lot of confusion. Now, I must say that the Snap Situation is a
pain in the ass. Customers are doing chargebacks on people like Adam and my
other client because Snap failed them. The only problem is that they're
actually performing chargebacks on us, the reseller who makes a lousy
$2/snap and the chargeback is for $40, not SnapNames who takes all of the
$38 and runs off with it.

Since we cannot do chargebacks on Snapnames, the resellers get screwed.

This was not the case when I sold CheapSnaps a few months ago, when
Snap was actually good.

SO, now you know why Adam doesn't want to bother running these sites.
They actually lose a lot more than they make, and they're a huge liability.

I will take care of the transfer since I wrote cheapsnaps. CheapSnaps may
be transferred as soon as 48 hours (depending on how long propagation will
take), as far as DomainSnaps, it will use the CheapSnaps template and
scripts but be under DomainSnaps SnapNames reseller account.

If all goes well, no one will know the transfer took place. You will be able
to use your current login/password to access CS and DS.

Let me know if you have any questions, [email protected].

Best Regards,
Luc L.

Good news for all those with accounts there :ok:

Good news Luc!

Dont' know why Snap has to be such a pain in the ass with this stuff! :-(

Adam,

I don't blame you for your decision because I understand the frustration of partnering with SnapNames. It's too bad they can't improve their service because the concept is great.

My attempts are also for sale: NameSnaps.com and SnappNames.com (although the websites no longer exist, they just lead to a holding type page). I realize that the two domains sound contraversial but Snapnames themselves gave me permission to use them and I have saved all the documentation for the new owner.
