1and1 is obviously going to try and renew all of those free names you got through them. I have a feeling Hostway is going to do the same. Well if you want to ensure you don't wake up one morning with a broke bank account here's what you should do.
Get a prepaid mastercard or visa. You can find them all over online. Western Union even has them. Depending on where you get one it might be free or $10 to $25 dollars for the card and you will have to load $10 to $25 on it. Make sure you have atleast $6 on the card. I just noticed 1and1 verifies the card with a $6 transaction which is automatically refunded.
Mosey on over to 1and1 and change your billing information over to that of the cash broke card. Cut up the card and be done. Most places the card will automatically cancel after 90 days with no funds on it. 1and1 and the others wont be able to get money from a card which has none.
