I don't believe the hype. Nor will I ever.

.US extension is blah. I
plan to continue on my dot com, net, and org escapade.
Screw, all the other extensions. This includes biz, & info.

I am pretty happy with my .US portfolio. Out of 500 names submitted, I got 88 registered.

One just sold, axe.us, for $2,000. That covered all my start-up costs, and left me with another 87 names to sell.

My opinion: .US rocks! Look or it to become the dominant TLD for the USA in the next 3-5 years.

In countries where a ccTLD has been available, it has been more widely used than .com/.net/.org put together.

.uk, .jp, .de as examples.

For many names I wanted, the .us was gone, while the .info and .biz were available. There are no 3 letter .us names left to register, all taken.

My names are at suv.us. Let me know what you think.

The .US extension is taking off like greased lightning. I think out of the ones you have listed, TouchTone.US, FashionGuide.US, HowToSell.US and HowToBuy.US will net you around 5K-8K!

What do you think of the following .USs

http://www.OilGas.US
http://www.StocksBonds.US
http://www.LawnGarden.US
http://www.Unofficial.US

GOLDSILVER.US is cool  .
However the one-woders and CDDVD.US will be the real winners.

Nice one word .us's are perhaps ok, though very speculative. But I think it will be a very long time before less than common two word combo's will have much value.

I gree with Snoops. The stakes have been raised tremendously in this game. If ass.us can't fetch even $5k, well at least not for now, imagine how two or three word domains will fair in the aftermarket.

Snoopy - I agree with you, sort of. The latest AfterNIC report shows the majority of registered names are two-word names, like computerworld, etc., regardless of TLD.

However, I believe that is due to the scarcity of one word domain names.

The real trick is getting a name people will remember.

Amazon.com is now synonymous with books/audio/video. Who would have thought? Same with eBay.

Starting with a good name is necessary, but it is the business model and management that turn a name into a profitable venture.

Garden.com was a great name, but the owners were not able to capitalize on it, and were bought out.

Check out this list. I doubt this is completely accurate, as most high level name sales are completed in a lawyers office, and are not public transactions. Note the majority of one-word names.

dnskidd,

Domain valuations have changed substantially since the sales you've post, which for the mainly took place during the tech boom.

This is the kind of list register.com/verisign produce to hype domains to new customers and has very little relationship to current selling prices.
