How many of you have had the same opening scam email from these chumps?:

We've have visited several online auctions. We are very interested in your domain name blablabla.

Just email me your price and we will consider it.

Of course, domain reselling is not a main direction of our business (we develop software). But domain aftermarket is hot now, so we are always interested in domain names.

Then they get you to get a domain appraisal at easynamesale.com.

I've barely been domaining for 3 weeks and I've had 2 of these already. What can be done to stop these rats?

It appears as though they have branched into selling domain names they don't own and taking payment for domain names to be "listed".

Old, old scam. Sorry you got took. If they want the appraisal, they pay for it.

If only people conducted due diligence A simple google search quickly suggests EasyNameSale.com is a scam

I didn't fall for this scam. The point is that it is so obvious, but I imagine that certain people are taken by it. The question was, why are they still there?

They are still there as it's hard to prove they are actually breaking any laws, and I suppose that some people must fall for it, as it's been going on for years.

The funny thing is, that they only seem to approach people who have recently started to buy domains. I had several when I started, and none for years now.

If you get another, reply saying 'I don't know what it's worth - why don't you get an appraisal and come back with an offer...'!

That's what I did the first time. Then I just told him he was an inbred, and I didn't get any more emails after that...

If they are still in 'business' it means their scam works.
Same with spam. As long as 0.0001% people buy from spammers it will be cost-effective for spammers to carry on.
