If you complete a transaction on ebay....and you don't get what you paid for...

Filing fraud with paypal...will that get you anywhere?

or will you have to contact your credit card company if it went through that?

eBay and Paypal consider many factors. The biggest factor is if the item is a tangible product. if it is not a tangible product or an electronic delivery you are ***'d out from the get go.

Also you need to know what thepaypal buyer guarntee was for the ebay listing.

Some are around $200 and others around $2000.

IF you bought an item for $300 and it had a $200 guarntee, paypal will give you back $200, and then force then lock the person out of there account until they payup to paypal, and to you the remander of the missing funds, in this case $100.

Hope that made sense.

I was the operations manager for Zoovy.com for 3 years an eCommerce development partner to ebay and paypal and have vast knowledge of the in's and out's of both companies.

let me know if you have further questions

P.S if you cant get paypal to side with you, most likely your credit card company will deny you and follow suite with paypal in most circumstances

This is for a tangible item...it says buyer protection with paypal but does not state how much.

My worry is it's a fake...how can my credit card not side with me...if it's fraud?

Please PM link to listing so I can better assist you in this

To answer your question paypal is more or less your credit card by proxy, I also said most circumstances, not all. Your credit card is going to investigate claim, they will contact paypal, if paypal doesnt see fraud most likely they wont either, this is most likely a non issue for you

I have had several issues with ebay and pay pal over the years. Was with ebay for 12 years.

You can call them at pay pal and they actually do listen - phone number on pay pal site

and by the way no matter what anyone tells you, you can ABSOLUTELY protest your credit card charge and they will put a hold on it especially if its fraud, pay pal does NOT control that.

I just recently had a sporting goods company send me 3 (thats right 3) WRONG SIZE gloves and to this day never have sent me what I paid for. I protested and in 10 was awarded my money back and now I sit here with 3 useless gloves. How smart is that seller!!

Good Luck
