EMail from parked domains

When parking domains, what consideration do you give for the email?

For me, I forward all email to a single mailbox then report it as SPAM. This is mostly due to participating in a SPAM filtering application test.

I send it all to one adress as well. ANd when I get a spam at my business email that I can trace to a legitimate email address, via whois info for the owner of a domain, it is ultimately re-directed to that person for a while. Payback is a MFR. I really like to do it when his domain is coming up for renewal and he has to hunt through thousands of spam per day for the notice : )

LOL, that's a great idea but what if he/she redirects it again back to you?

For awhile I use to direct emails into one account.

99.9% was useless spam. And, daily, I would get an email that looked important so I would send it back. But, it takes time.

I now, just don't turn on the emails for parked sites.

And, any important emails will bounce back to the sender.

It's never happened. Most don't know how to identify the source, and it never actually goes through my IP. The only common denominator is the re-direct domain I use, and the shois there doesn't reveal any useful info. : ) Im telling ya though, im getting real tired of the aZing29.com friggen spams.

I set up hosting and email for each domain with a catch-all address for each. Then I set up an auto-responder for the catch-all so that way every email that comes to the domain sends an auto reply:

SUBJECT: Returned Mail from XYZ.com

Your mail has been refused for the following reason(s):

This domain has been acquired by a new owner and no longer accepts mail at this address.


Please remove all email addresses from your list or address book for the domain XYZ.com

If you feel you have received this message in error or need to contact the domain owner, please use the contact form at:

http://XYZ.com/contact.html



This way people who are interested in buying can use the contact form - the spammers don't usually bother unless it is some schmuck who has nothing better to do than send out individual Viagra adverts.

This method also increases traffic to the domain, because people get curious at the mention of a "new owner".

be carefull with catch all. some nasty guys are sending mails to check if you got catch all turned on and if they don't get a bounce mail they will use those domains to spamm all over the world and it can get you blacklisted at quite a few places. even the sender mail is fake lot's of companies don't check that deep and you have more trouble than it's worth it. just imagine selling the name and later the new owner finds he's blacklisted @ hotmail - yahoo - spamcop etc..
