i would gladly stake my life on the bet that they are not going to be anywhere near as valuable as .com's.

Lol. Why would you think it would become more valuable than .com, just because it's new? There's hundreds of new extensions. With each new one released, .com becomes MORE valuable.

It COULD become as valuable as .com. The EU will accept 10 new countries by 2007. It is the biggest union in globe. So why do you blatantly underestimate .eu domain. I have applied for preregistration of 10 .eu domains and if I could get them I would be rich.

I've preregistered five .eu's - I doubt if I'll get them due to trademarkers getting priority. Having said that I don't even think it will be as popular as .us simply because the USA is the worlds economic powerhouse and the EU is lagging pathetically behind.

Actually, with each new major extension launch, .com becomes LESS relevant as the only tld to have. Some call this value dilution.

As the waters become diluted, .com always rises to the top, and always will.

i would say, each new major TLD release has no real impact on the power of .coms. Big companies almost never go for .us or .info or .net or any other crap. Com is still king, and it hasn't been 'diluted' by all the other crappy extensions. The reason that .coms are not as valuable as they were a couple years ago is due to the dot-com crash, not .crap taking away .coms glory.

Of course not, their lawyers just grab it from you at gun point. Guess who owns cnn.biz now?

But don't forget that for every big company, there are many many more SMEs.

These companies are not tied to traditional and bueracratic crap.

I think the point here that should be discussed is not whether .eu will become as valuable as .com but the point that whether you reg generic domains related to a region of 15 countries now and 25 countries in 2007. Yes you are right by the way I do not reg europeanblowjobgirls.eu.
