What does everybody think about this extension? Do you think .EU domains are worth acquiring?

Dear Doctor

This is a great question. Will they be the next land grab or not? What I do know is that the process for registering thme involves having a european based address. Of course, there are a number of ways to achieve this! What is also interesting is that there are two sunrise periods to regsiter as well. But again, there are some fairly strict rules.

EuroDNS are one of the accredited registrars. Their guys were at the recent Vegas gig. If you want to know more about .eu registration, contact Freddy Schiwek ([email protected]). He should be able to help out.

European to reg will probably restrict prices to a similar range as .us - although if the germans and the UK like .eu they'll be higher, these markets are huge.

Multi-lingual aspect of europe will hold back the prices.

.info/.biz were launched while the domain market was in a bit of a rut, now the market has matured and improved I'd expect the price to rise much more rapidly than .info/.biz/.us

As always, premium single word domains will be valuable.

I will register .EU domains. I have already pre-registered some domains under
.EU, but I'm mostly unlucky with pre-registrations. Therefore I will probably
try to acquire good .EU domains on the aftermarket as long as their market
value isn't established yet. You might be able to get some bargains at the
beginning, but I expect the prices of .EU domains to increase quite fast after
one or two years. I even think that .EU domains have got the potential to
become more valuable than .US domains, because the European extension is
wishfully awaited.

It took a blooming 5 years for .EU to even smell existence, so it currently holds the world record for the most anticipated domain in human history, besides .XXX of course.

I think you forgot about .web - unless your not counting 'hopefuls'.
