I have a free blogging site. It never got advertised, but apparently word got around. I never really followed it, until I noticed the high traffic volume. When I started reviewing the posts, 99% were true spam. I started banning, like over 100 accounts, until I couldn't deal with it, then they killed all of my disk storage, so I just forwarded to a parking site, horrendous CTR, but at least temporarily solved the problem. It would have been nice to keep this going, but the lack of consideration is unbelievable.

You need to implement all the anti-spam measures offered by the platform, including captchas etc.

There are some anti-spam measures. The thing is they register, cut & copy real articles, then put links into their sites. Sometimes the articles are completely irrelevant to their topic, and sometimes it is.

Like all about Viagara.

Try to change the file name structure of where you submit postings. Automated scanners check known folder/file names from default installations in order to make the spam posts.

I think the parking system that you forwarded your domain, may ban your account, too.

To the best of my knowledge not. Sites get closed down all the time, and I don't know who will do the banning, the parking partner. That really doesn't bother me though. Just trying to stop the spammers.

The blogs are created after opening an account, e.g., NewBlog.mysitename.com, and then the blog owners are free to post. I can't imagine ever reviewing all posts.
