I just upgraded to Platinum myself, but do have a problem with guests and silver members not being able to respond to for sale threads to initiate a purchase or to bid only on auctions without obtaining a paying membership. I think this is one thing that helped put the final nail in the coffin of the old afternic.

If I'd come to the site months ago and not been able to interact, I may not have stuck around myself and made some purchases.

Agreed. I sort of assume the inability for silvers to relpy to threads in the advertizing section will be changed over time. Auction too, why limit the potential group of people allowed to buy or bid, right?
