Background information before appraising!


Netizen.org

• Right now the domain points to a non-profit called Responsible Netizen Institute. I'm capproaching them to replace/add-to their ResponsibleNetizen.org addy.
  
• Link popularity is high because of the domain name's previous owners (not because of the current forwarding situation):
  MSN shows 737 links.
  Altavista shows 491 links.
  All-important Google shows 710 links.
  
• Obviously the ".org" devalues it a lot. It's still a great value for the "netizen" non-profit already using a .org, no?
  
• Some crazy kook owned Netizen.org in the 90's according to Archive.org
  
• Crazy Kook let it expire. Bids were several hundred dollars at NameWinner when it was dropping (I got it w/ a SnapBack because I was interested in starting a business named "Netizen")
  
• Edited: Term "netizen" searched 130 times at Overture.

51 uniques on a slow Sunday. So an estimated 20,000 unique visitors over a year.

At 1 cent a vistor they're worth $200. At 3 cents a visitor using a product like AllClicks.com, they're worth $600. If you sell a product you make $10 profit on, and .8% of visitors buy from you... then the domain is worth $1600.


These links to the site are very permanent. Remember that the domain name has been dead for years and 737 true links still exist... they aren't going any where now.

I could also make money forwarding the domain name to an products at Amazon I would make commission off of.... like:

any idea on the number of unique visitors per day?

the ov count is zero for the actual domain, the 131 is for the term so any value seems pretty much derived from the links and traffic they generate.

No figures for unique visitors per day but I could easily get one by forwarding the domain name to a stats page. Worth it / should I?

 

Given the most likely buyer will be someone after the traffic for revenue conversion, I would think stats could be a good negotiating point.

Really I'm not that interested in making a million dollars off this name. I'm wondering what I should ask the ResponsibleNetizen people or alternatively if any of you want to buy it.

Now we all will inflate the stats by visiting to look at the stats.

Since this is Domain Appraisals forum, I will appraise the domain at aprox $100-200.

It's a cool word that I don't hear much anymore. The .org is not terrible, since the term means "Net Citizen", it could find an appropriate use.

 

agree with safe, the value of these domains is in the traffic they are generating. Will be interesteing to watch the stats.

Okay, the stats to look for are the ones for 08 Sep, Sun, 2002. We won't know for sure until midnight tonight eastern time.
