I have someone that is hot linking one of my images that I had to get permission to use. He is using the image on another forum in his signature. J
I was going to remove it ..but then a thought occurred to me..

Would that hot link ..count as a link ? increasing PR ?

The website is a huge corporation with nice PR ..the offender is using the image on the corporations forum

Most probably not.

Even if the image does count as a link, it has no way to pass PR to other page, so it's still won't increase your PR.

I'm not quite sure, but I think only text links increase your PR. So the linked image wouldn't be useful for you...

I guess you may be better off writing to their PR or legal department asking for some compensation of stealing your image. At least you could get some merchandise from them. :D

There is something called Hotlink protection within cpanel which allows images to be linked only internally from your sites and not others. If you are using cpanel/whm, I would suggest you have a look at it.

Thanks namewolf..yep I am aware of how to stop the hot link.. a thought was passing through my head (danger danger lol) ..Hey I wonder if I just let him go ahead and hot link and maybe the hot link would pass PR. If that was the case..I'll let him continue to stealthe image as long I get the benefit of a PR boost.

But yeah I think you guy's are correct.. probably dosent pass PR

nope hotlinked images dosent help

wish it did

change it on him!

yeah you can indeed put a nasty image instead of the original one and let him run with it for a while... :)

NW

or put a script there instead of an image and really have some fun
