Well, obviousley you can't register 2 char's anymore - but I seen on DeletedDomains today, this:

xa.net (Previously DROPPED on 09-01-2004)

Err, how did they do it? Was it backordered or something?

Thanks In Advance,
Andy

you can't register one, because all are registered.

but some are dropped, and you can snap it and bid for it (prices are high)

Why did they make it so Orgs can't be catched?
That's kind of odd - they're the lowest of the 3 - IMO.

They are run by different registries. VeriSign runs .com and .net while PIR runs .org. PIR decided to enforce not allowing two-character .org domains to be registered anymore while VeriSign has not, so you can still register two-character .com and .net domains but not two-character .org domains.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing me up.
I could have swore that you couldn't register 2-char Coms and Nets.

Now, the 1-character domains were registered by a guy a decade or so back so that no one else could register them, correct? And once they are gone - a single-char can never be registered again, right?

For com/net I believe that for a short period of time they could be registered.

All that's left now is i.net, z.com, x.com and q.com.
