How to explain domaining to a newbie?

I get asked by friends all the time what I do and everyone wants to get in, I'm sure lots of you are in this situation frequently.

So what do you say to friends when they want to start domaining, any good articles to send them etc?

I would say it's like investing in virtual real estate. Don't get them too interested though, we don't need more competition

So true. There's an individual at my job who's always talking about investing in 'google', 'garmin gps'!! etc etc and I told him about what I do in my spare time...; sold a domain I bought for $320 for 7k 3 months later.

Of course, he just gave me this blank stare and asked me for more info.

Told him I was kinda busy and would get back with him.
