How to handle offer on previously owned domain?

Looking for some advice.

I just got an initial $60 offer through Sedo for a domain that I sold to someone earlier this year (for low $xx), but forgot to remove from my Sedo account.

Should I:

A) Simply reject the offer and delete the domain?

B) Tell the guy who bought it from me that I have received an offer, and ask if he'd like me to negotiate a sale for him (either as a favor or for a fee/percentage)?

C) Ask the previous buyer if he'd like to sell it back to me, without revealing that I've gotten an offer for it? (I did this once before on a different domain and made about $500 profit; that won't happen on this domain, but it might go to low $xxx range.)

I got an A in my Ethics course in college, but am not sure what is the ethical thing to do here.

Inform Sedo you got the offer and you don't own the domain anymore.

Sedo will delete it.

I had this happen a few times (not on sedo though after pushes some owners do not update the contact info)...I forwarded on the potential buyers to the new owners...I had one owner split the sale with me....which was really suprising as I did not ask for anything.

So many lowball offers are not even serious, so trying to get the name back is not a good idea unless you really want it back....also it could be the new owner testing your ethics when they saw the name on sedo...and not in your account.

Let the offer expire (do not accept it) and then delete the domain from your account.

I agree with DCG but I would also forward the offer to the new owner...he has a right to know someone is interested in buying.

Yes, that sounds about like what I am going to do. Here is the message I am sending to the current owner:

"You bought __________.com from me in January. I forgot to delete it from my Sedo account, and I just got an offer for it there (initial offer is $61).

I can delete it from my Sedo account and send a message to the buyer (whose identity I don't know) to say that they should make an offer again in a few days, which would give you time to put it in your account there. Sound good? (Or would you rather just have me negotiate a sale for you, through my account?)"

Sounds fair to me. I know it's hard to get a domain deleted from Sedo once it has a bid no matter what you do, so it's best to contact Sedo now, because you should hear something in about a month or two to delete it. :smilewinkgrin:

Please, whatever you finally decide, call it a "preowned" domain instead of "previously owned." Preferably "Certified Preowned."
