Looking on google/overture it seems a solid name and $5k seems very achievable if you are approached by an end user for it.

I'd be inclined to hold on to it until the devices become more mainstream as $5k could be a low estimate with time.

Just on a techincal note, seems most of the thin TV's coming out at the moment use gas plasma rather than LCD (in the bigger sizes at least they are all gas plasma it seems) as apparentely LCD is difficult to produce much over 19 inch.

Thanks Safesys. That's very good news.

Hope the devices catch up fast !! ;)

One hitch, is that most companies that make them are large corp. & it's really tough to catch their interest !!

Just as you said, as the sector gets mature & broader, my chance should come.

Windy

Well Snoppy, That's a new dimension.

My buy decision was based on this article:

http://www.displaysearch.com/press/2001/072401.html

I guess, what ever they put inside- crystal or gas plasma, people are going to refer to the thin screen TVs as LCD Tvs !!

I just ran a search for " gas plasma" at Inventory.Overture.
There have been some searches in those lines, but i guess the name - LCD tvs will be what that will stick.

Gas plasma sounds too techy !! LCD tvs is fine !! :D

LCD technology is not going to last long, it's more than 30 years old
The future is reserved for gas plasma and plastic screens/TV's

windy, I think your confusing the two technologies,

1. lcd screens are made in small sizes (rarely greater than 19 inch) and are used in car tv screens, pocket tv's and computer monitors generally.

2. Gas plasma, commonly called "plasma" is used for large screen sizes such as commonly found in large screen "thin" tv's.

I doubt companies and consumers will commonly refer to a screen which is gas plasma as "lcd".

1. Plural on a acronym (TV vs TVs)
2. LCD is so 70's as an upcoming technology

LCDtvs.biz is available too !!
