Do you ever think about what you'd be doing if the internet hadn't been invented? I wonder if I'd be better or worse off. I reckon I wouldn't be working for myself without it but I'd be far fitter - I wouldn't be sitting here for a start. What would you be doing?

I wouldn't have re-met my wife so I'd probably still be living in NH.

I would be bored right now.

having fun on a BBS
drawing ascii art

I'd still have my normal job, but wouldn't have the cash I do now

It's funny, but I never thought of it. On a side note I'm fitter because I'm on the Internet. LOL. I work out more because I don't do a physical job.

I would be looking at my laptop.. opening and closing the lid...turning it end over end and asking myself... "WHAT IS THIS THING?" :pound:

working at a walmart or stop and shop while i dont have any school for the summer

Well i would say tool and die but all those jobs are in china now, so who knows.

Ditto! And maybe some RIP :-)

Probably programming databases.. Or still selling glass for hi rises.

Excellent!

It's strange how life's "forks" take you down the path based on events and decisions. It's hard to imagine life without the Internet at this time and age. I live in the US because of it. Before the Internet, I was a programmer who coded for 8-bit game machines and wrote articles for technology magazines. I use computers since my mid teens, so I would have continued down the same path one way or another. However, at 9pm on a Saturday I would have been out with friends instead of posting in threads :D LOL

I'd be working 16-18 hour days in the film biz...of course i spend that same amount of time on the internet during the week, but that's not the point :)

Probably would have opened my own Restaurant or went on to finish a culinary degree.

Probably working a trade I imagine.

I probably would have finished the last edit of my novel by now and probably have ten times less stress in my life.

hmmm.

More or less internet has effected our lives a lot , If I think about it , I had found my previous job from an internet ad and my recent job depends on internet etc.It is hard to guess but according to my education I would possibly be at a construction site shouting at the workers and the truck drivers :)

I would've probably been a writer, and moonlighted as a musician

But then...I might have also gone into a proper, brick and mortar business. Tons of opportunities in India, but more hard work than an internet business.

Does it sometime surprise you that if you weren't working on the internet but running a regular business, you would have had to deal with a lot lot more stress and responsibilities? Suppliers, distributors, employees, etc. On the internet, you can just find typos and make money :)
