bestwebvidz.ws
haveayak.com (which received 33 competitive bids up and over $1000 at GoDaddy recently)
waffleporn.info (possibly available to register today)
incrediblefantasticdomainsforsalebyustoyou.org
ewasteforum.net (which may still be available on DNForum now!)

... Can't tell the truth. Who knows, I might want to buy my top 5 tomorrow.

You only need to go back as far as the late 90s to have picked up some very good .com's.

For example MidgetPorn.com

:)

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, Man! Why think small? Why live in the past? It's GiantPorn.com that's gonna be huge now. Pornography as filmed from the perspective of a very tiny insect. Pubic hairs like tree trunks!

I've detracted from the tenor of this thread too much. So I'll give my 5:

Book.com
Laptop.com
Hotel.com
And their plurals

The problem with going back to 1985 is that you'd have to wait a while before the internet got going. You'd have to also play the stock market and bet on sports games where you know the outcome in the meantime.

Could a person even reg a domain back in 1985?

Some good choices would be single and double letter/number domains. Like 88.com 24.com US.com

google.com
yahoo.com
apple.com
facebook.com
insurance.com

:) you forgot microsoft.com

But seriously, the domains you mention is worth what it is today, because of the business behind them today.

If they have chosen loohoo, nahoo, fanboy and socialbook, they would be as succesful as they are today. If it wasn't for the business behind them, the only domains worth owning between the ones you mentioned would be apple and insurance. imo
