...from mike @ webproworld

The big news of the day seems to be the announcement of a new critical update for Windows. Apparently, there is some new flavor of nastiness running around the WWW. The lowdown: there’s a new 'critical' buffer overrun vulnerability that has something to do with the processing of images in JPG format.
Of course anytime Microsoft uses the words ‘critical’ and ‘security’ on the same page, anyone using Windows had best be listening. This time is no exception. If your system were to be compromised using this exploit you are basically handing the keys to the bad guys. In short… update now.

As vMyths.com (subscribe to their newsletter!) puts it, "But no actual threat exists -- and that means reporters will engage in wild speculation & hysteria. Download the security patch, install it, and get on with your life..."

Cheers,
Rob
