Hello,

I recently got this mail from my Reseller locally ( Registrar for my domain is : dot registrar ) for renewing my domain.

It says :

The new
rule is if the domain is not renewed before the expiry day and the domains
goes to (REDEMPTIONPERIOD).if u want to have the same domain the register
will charge around Rs.8000/- ( equivalent of $160 ) or more depending on the register,The register
will hold
the domain for 60 days and they might release the domain then we can book
the domain once again freshly.

when did this come into effect ?? Any pointers where i can get more info on this new rule ??

Thanks much

It's a verisign/netsol rule - I got the "warning" from BulkRegister and other registrars a few months back. Your registrar gets none or little of the $160.
