Here is my opinion....

LLL.com's will always be big, you can't go wrong with having the .com for a given LLL. Assuming you have the funds to hold onto it, therefore you're looking for a high priced end user ($75k+ or $100k+), this still poses a challenge. The return is huge, but so is the investment. It is a hard return to obtain, as even if the company is moderately sized, it still may be hard to justify the desired upper xx,xxx to xxx,xxx price range.

However... justifying a mid $x,xxx to low $xx,xxx for a LLL.net or LLL.org would be much easier. There are lots of value in these names, and for the most part are insanely cheap. They are also easier to invest in for everyday or new domain buyers. I think right now is the time to buy (like crazy) on LLL.net's and .org's.

That's what I'm planning to do at least... Even though your target LLL.org end-user is made up of lower budget entities, the desired price range is drastically lower than what you would want from your end-user LLL.com, making the sales more likely.

Companies are just the start... I would pay a few thousand for my initials .org, because of my involvement with the Internet. Well... more people are being educated on the Internet, and involved with the Internet every day. Having 3 letter domains of any extension, but particaully com/net/org are great investments. The potential resale of LLL.net/org to individuals for mid-upper $x,xxx for personal/small-business use is very likely in the years to come.

A $600 LLL.org + 10 * $10 renewal = $700.00 investment by 2018... I'd say that's pretty safe. I made the renewal fee a high $10 just to account for possible increases.

The Internet is not growing at a gradual rate. As the older generations die, and new ones come about, domains will continue to be more and more important. The value increase from 1998 to 2008 on LLL.net/orgs cannot be used to accurately predict the increase from 2008 to 2018.

The domain market hasn't even begun to explode yet.

Here's my take.
I hate nets, unless your momma's wearing them

Having said that, LLL.net are wildly UNDERPRICED
they are their best use, for LLL
Generics are cool. but hard sells

LLL.net will increase bigtime over the coming year. it is an unbiased view too.
i own LLL.com & NNN.com & LLL.MOBI NNN.mobi
However , looking at getting some cheap premium LLL.nets :-#:

here's my take: if you can afford to buy and hold, then buy anything that is short, looks good, and has end user potential (acronyms, google results, brandable, etc.). Nobody died of owning too many names

Bad times means bottom feeders go up, LLL.net should turn upwards as people will spend less on LLL.coms domains.
