I have decided to sell LocalTownUsa.com which is a highly search engie friendly directory containing 438,631 links to web sites categorised by State and town. There are 24,821 towns listed in the directory.

This site is more than a directory as it allows users to post classifieds and events for their locality as well as send users private messages via their contrl panel.

There are two level of membership: standard which is free and allows the user to post one link and Commercial which allows the users to post up to 10 links in their area. Commercial membership upgrade is handled by automated PayPal integration.

I wanted this to be my flag ship site, but time and circumstance has not allowed this so I have not promoted it other than spending about $100 on Adwords and emailing some of the website users for reciprocal links. All traffic is now derived from search engines and these are the stats for Uniques:

June: 3064
July: 1461
Aug: 1293
Sept: 1263

The reason that June had the highest number of uniques is that is when I was mailing to get reciprocal links and doing the small amount of adwords publicity.

The data is all extracted from DMOZ under their licence terms, and contained in the database. Many sites have also requested changes of their DMOZ data and have added their own sites.

The site went straight into Google at PR5.

The sale includes these domains, all listed at namecheap:

LocalTownUSA.com
LocalTownsUSA.com
LocalTownUSA.net
LocalTownUSA.org

This site is all about potential, which is massive in the right hands It took many days to code and process the data, so this sale is by auction and I retain the right to withdraw the sale or accept any offer at any time. Buyer to pay Escrow fees, if required.

The starting price of the auction is $1000 USD

Thanks for looking

Chris

What are the restriction with the site since it uses DMOZ data?

Have there been any claims or complaints (domain, copyright, trademark, spam, etc.) against the site, domain, staff, content, etc...

Is the programming/script custom and unique to this site?

Has the site made any money at all from adsense?

There are no restrictions in the use of the DMOZ data as long as you keep the DMOZ logo in the footer and point the URL link to the correct DMOZ directory, as it currently does.

An interesting point is that users have submitted links, categories and towns that are not in the DMOZ directory (and therefore don't come under the DMOZ licence terms), however as DMOZ data in the site is compliant, this should satisfy DMOZ.

The site is custom coded by me and is unique to a few of my directories - all apart from this are in the UK, where I'm based, so it is unique to the USA.

The site has only made about $15USD as far as I can tell.

Have there been any claims or complaints (domain, copyright, trademark, spam, etc.) against the site, domain, staff, content, etc...

None at all.
