So today is my moms birthday. She would have been 58 today. In 16 minutes is my birthday and I am going to be 30. It was something we always shared together since I was little and its going to take awhile to get used to celebrating alone. Sooo Wow - 30 - wonder if I can stay 29 and holding?

Argh I feel like I should buy a cane now or start playing bingo.

Happy Birthday Melly. I would bet that you were considered the best birthday present that your mother ever had. Even if you were a day late. My two daughters share the same birthday (March 31) - 4 years apart. It really helps to have a celebration for both on the same day. You and your mother probably did something similar.
My father died on my birthday and initially I thought that was just not right. I have come to accept the fact and find it to be a day for reflection and reevaluation of myself.
