We just had a severe power surge go though our grid (news reports are saying there are spotted outages from Miami to Orlando).

The surge went though and hit our fire systems setting it all off. We had to evacuate. We noticed the Microsoft building next door didn't evacuate. Odd.

Now the "do you feel safe part".

The surge fried their security system setting off the alarm and locking everyone inside the building.

Turkey Point power plant if apparently offline.

It's our local Nuclear Power plant...

Not sure how to take it yet, no sirens and I'm not glowing yet.

Yeah, the outage was caused by two things, neither of which (individually would have killed the power to everyone in the area).

1) A fire in a sub-station
2) A voltage regulator failed

The surge hit Turkey Point and another oil burning facility and both shut down as a precaution.
