I agree with you.

I keep thinking about the business.com deal, I remember people talking bad about the deal many said, "I look for business at Yahoo or Google.. etc.." Then developed they business.com got a great return. Many of the people not in the .MOBI van were probably many people saying "Internet is not going to replace yellow pages, or email is not going to replace fax"...

I am sure my vision is shared by Verizon Wireless, or Nokia or ATT, or even AOL..:

How about a live cast via: superbowl.sports.mobi ///??

Or I see the big studios purchasing: "thegladiator.movies.mobi" to promote their films over cell phones..

I could go on and on...

.MOBI like it or not will be like a new land where people are going to be building businesses.

I do respect everyones comments, even negative comments. I am sure the big domainers had the vision we all didn't have back in 1995.. Well in 2007 all of us investing in .MOBI should discuss this in 2010 or even before.

Sedo I have bought numerous domains for tens of thousands of dollars and I refuse to park them and make money off parking (Domain King you can do that and **** the internet up for all of us).

How about, when a cellphone visitor accesses sports.com, it redirects to mobi.sports.com ? Why do we need a separate TLD for device-specific content? In fact, most new web-enabled cellphones have browsers that render web pages exactly as a computer-based browser would do.

My thoughts exactly, but as you pointed out:
If you want and need specifics, go back and read the many threads regarding .mobi usage or even the points made previously in this thread.

One of the points I was making was that the TLD itself is going to take a long time before its both known and understood by the majority of people using the Internet.

At the moment something like games.mobi (per the thread going on, on the other forum) is probably worth something as the kiddies want to download java games onto their mobile phone. However, there is going to be lead time in:

a) educating the target market to type in .mobi instead of .com
b) getting them off their favorite .com site for mobile games.

Just remember, "mobile" is a UK/Euro term; in the US it's "cell/cellphone/cellular". No wonder we don't share your enthusiasm.

In Australia its also mobile. America - its just you guys with your cells. If the TLD was .cell then the microbiologists would be all over it. I wonder who would own the rights to single.cell - is it a dating site?

You would have to indicate a specific domain. Bidders no 2 and no 3 were not fake if you are referring to Music.mobi and to my knowledge all the auctions.

The question that is coming up is bidders no 12 and 13 who entered the auction when the auction was extended after the black out.

But I can assure you, that in any auction, personal financial information is of no one's business but the bidder(s).

And the countless bullshit bid shilling that goes on in every auction? Try and explain this one, domain lovers.

Fact remains, as Acro said, the newer cell phones coming out can render a website in full, like pc browsers. So why would I go to an ugly page without graphics if I could go to a normal website?
Samsung is launching a phone that recognizes voice and turns it into text, and if they can perfect it, the problem of typing in will go away too.

I think you missed the whole point. I only quoted Alvaro's argument that sports.mobi is better over sports.com/mobi/longurl.html

"Just us" is the largest consumer-driven market in the world - until China takes over. So I see no reason why we should concede to the rest of the world. The Internet is still English-driven and America-centric. And that comes from me, a Greek national.

I bid on 4 auctions early on. More of less marking them. In many instances I was bidder 2 or 3. In one instance, I was bidder one. This allowed me to check the status of the auctions by simply clicking on Offers You Have Made link without going through the entire lineup.

All of a sudden you and others are acting like this only goes on in a .mobi auction. What bullshit shallow thinking is that.

As for Sedo, I have had a total of 11 unpaid auctions in 2007, one currently running, one unpaid on Afternic. Each on was, SURPRISE! a .com.

So sashas, the only thing left to explain would be why you would refer to folks as mobi lovers which would infer that you are a mobi hater. That would seem to be the only thing left to explain.

Doc, by bidders 2 and 3, I was referring to bidders 12 and 13 (or was it 13 and 14?) who entered the auction late and ran up the whole price. These guys entered the auction AFTER it had been closed at $66,000 and the first guy had won the name. When the auction reopened, these bidders, 12 and 13, entered the auction, bid it up to $600k because Sedo knew that the original winner had a highest proxy of 600k.

Doc, you'll agree that all this sounds highly highly fishy.
