btw, 3character.com states that 0 is a bad number, well that is obvious, but also that 4 and 6 are lower quality numbers. Any idea whats the reasoning behind that?

The chinese believe the number 4 is bad luck because in the chinese language, when spoken as a number it sounds too much like the chinces word for death.

I'm not sure why '6' is lumped in with the bad.

In Chinese, 6, 8 and 9 are the lucky, positive numbers.

Not aware of anything behind 6. I think most of this has been equating to zip codes.

Not only is 90210 Beverly Hills, but 902xx anything is the greater Los Angeles area. And all 100 from that point on are gone and I would imagine have been for quite some time.

When you consider what iconic numbers like 90210 represent, then it all falls into place. They would almost become the "vanity" plate of the internet. Naturally BeverlyHills.com would be da' bomb. But I would take it's next of kin any day.

So think of popular areas and hot spots like Rodeo Drive or Wall Street and it is easy to see why some of these would be so hot.

Naturally, some are not as embedded in our conscious as 90210. But rest assured everyone who works on Wall Street would immediately recognize that 10005 is where Wall Street lives.

By the way, another humor is the thinking that Q is bad. Bad for what, the English speakers? It is unimaginable how many Chinese family names, towns, words, and deity's begin with the letter Q.

There has been a lot of activity on the boards regarding the mass registration of 5-digit numeric domains.

One of the many uses of numeric domains is that they can spell words on billions of cell phones (2 = a, b, or c 7 = p, q, r, or s etc.).

Which NNNNN do you think is most valuable?

One of the problems I see is that the majority of members here are from countries where we are consistently bombarded with advertising about all the latest and greatest gadgets. We have kids who are expert gamers and p2p communicators. We have easy, abundant access to broadband to help power our iphones, smart phones and other qwerty-centric devices.

On top of that, we instantly hear all the news from the latest trade shows.

"Did you see the 7465??? Un fuc***g real! Not only does it give you directions to the nearest Holt-Renfrew, it serves you Venetian, low-fat skinny frappacino deluxe with cinnamon and chocolate shaving, no foam, AND gives you a Swedish massage with a hint of Beverly Hills' hottest scent - Mongolian Sweetgrass carrot (Yes from Lake Baikal... geesh) wafting in the air, it ALSO plays your favorite Ravi Shankar tunes in the background".

Ahhhh... Smart phones.

Lest we forget. Smart phones and qwerty-centric devices make up less that 6% of the BILLIONS of cell phones in the world. Many legacy phones still operate on WAP. It will be years before the main challenge to numeric domains not being used is cited as being keyboard technology, voice recognition or other new fangled widgets.
