MSN and Google search engine differences?

Anyone has any thoughts on how MSN and Google rank the same searches? I ask because the rankings often do not coincide e.g. something that comes out tops in a Google search can be on page 2 of MSN and vice versa. Occasionally, I've found they do coincide, but cannot find rhyme or reason for it.

The ranking algorithms of Google, Yahoo and MSN are somewhat different so for a particular search you might get different results in Google, Yahoo and MSN, as you mentioned, something that comes out on top in a Google search can be on page 2 of MSN and vice versa.
