I've been graphing my revenue recently, which primarily comes from Yahoo/Overture feeds. There is a weird pattern forming, and it's quite distinct. It shows a five day cycle, and the fifth day is always the lowest, which seems to defy the seven day cycle you might expect..

It's clear that it follows the biblical "...and on the 7th day he rested" but nowadays there's an extra day off.

Jokes aside, the revenue is very volatile. Sedo is silent for weeks now.

Nothing unusual about consistent traffic patterns but a 5 day cycle is odd since it usually involves a 7 day cycle and is based on early week days most often being best and the end of week (Fri thru Sun) being slower with many websites.

Can you please tell us how you are graphing it and which software? Do you do manual data entry or automated?

Yeah, obviously I'd expect to see a 7 day pattern, but this is definitely every five days (I'm looking at 2 months of data across a lot of domains, so I've got a reasonable sample).

I'm just manually entering data into Excel.

Same clicks today as yesterday - half the revenue. The reason? PPC was 1/2 of yesterday's.

That's the average figures on more than 600 domains.

But Sedo insists we are now making more money than before.

Anyone seen Sedo commenting here in the past month?

Bit of a mixed report - ad revenue was below their forecast, however, although net income was down, ad revenue was up 20% on this time last year. So overall, advertising is still strong, but Yahoo predicted too much growth.

Google posted third-quarter results on Thursday that show strong growth from a year ago on continued flourishing sales of search-related advertising. Total revenue for the third quarter rose 70 percent to $2.69 billion, up from year-ago revenue of $1.58 billion. Excluding traffic acquisition costs, or commissions paid to content partners, revenue was $1.87 billion. Net income was $733 million, or $2.36 a share. Net income a year earlier was $381.2 million, or $1.32 a share.

I never understand the use of being miserable and blaming a PPC service. It sounds like a bad marriage to me. You hate it but don't bother to get a divorce.

If you're not happy - consider trying another service. If you aren't sure which one to try, feel free to PM me and I'll help you figure out which one will work depending on your domains.

But remember if your names aren't that good, they aren't going to perform well at any service. There's no magic pill. But there are services that perform much better than Sedo if you have good names.
