CarRentalCompany.com is one of your better domains (the ones I 've seen of yours). Nice catch. The word "company" is not to my best liking but I imagine it was the best you could get.

In the US they call them hairSalons or HairDressers. I don't think they are commonly refered to as hairDressingSalons but hairDressing School is used more (still talking abou the US). You probably already looked at overture about this.

I am pretty sure the name HairDressingSalons rocks in the UK.

Never Sell !! What makes you so sure ? I sold over 45 - 3 word domains.

 

from personal experience, 3 word domains do sell, as do domains with "company" at the end.

carrentalcompany.com sounds ok to me, don't expect to retire on the sale but its got a good feel to it (i would actually prefer to have the 4 word domain thecarrentalcompany.com though).

Three word domains sell and can be valuable, especially if they are key industry terms and phrases.

However, I believe names preceeded with the word THE may sound OK, but do great damage to the names value, be it a 2 word, 3 or 4 word name.

In fact, in most all cases THE in front of the name likely makes the domain basically worthless.

For example, I know of a name TheTraders.com which was recently for sale and could have been purchased for approx' $100., or even less. However, Traders.com is quite valuable, estimated at low 6-figures.

There are zillions of other examples where THE makes the name of little value.

A few possible reasons are the fact very few of us would use THE as part of a type-in name. Also, we may forget about it having THE in front and instead give free traffic to the domain without the THE.

P.S. Never heard of "thecarrentalcompany.com" What is it?

Agreed about the word "the" for the most part. There are exceptions, however. I think TheMoneyStore.com may be as good or even better than MoneyStore.com. Money stores can be a dime a dozen but THE money store is, well, THE place Another example: TheMusicRack.com vs MusicRack.com. Does the 3-word seem slightly more favorable of a complete business concept/brand or is my judgement faultering here?

For instance, with "Car" (or any other generic name as House, Boat, Garden, Computer, etc...) , could we hierarchise potential value ?

Personally, I feel "MyCar.com" more interpelling, more linked with the person , thus better, but maybe other friends do'nt think like me ...

Sorry, I dont particularly like "MY" in domain speculation or trade. COnsider Frenchie's example and decide for yourselves:

TheCar.com - alsmost useless with exceptions of course

MyCar.com - pertains to ones owning, or improving the appearance of, or mofifing the mechanical parts, or denotes pride in one's possesion of a vehicle. (myprizedcar.com) Key=individuality. Better for a car enthousiast site.

Car.com - possibilities are endless, from an auto industry news page to a classified used (or new) car page.

TheDrawingBoard.com vs. DrawingBoard.com is a tough one!

Judging from populated TLDs, there ia about equal interest.
The former may be better for a content site (such as a serious discussion or collective development of a project). The latter could be marketing of a specific product or products related to drawing or imaging (?).
Honestly I cannot make up my mind on this one in terms of value although the shorter one is more valuable technically
