Is it me or did Google just change their search page look-and-feel??

Its been like that for a while.

How is it different?

Didn't see any new stuff on Google.... ?

ummmmmm...... I think its you

Only some IP's get the new design periodically. Eventually everyone will see the change and it will be constant.

About a month ago, I ran into a different layout, but after clearing my browser's cookies, it switched back to the old layout. They must be trying it on random visitors or something.

I see the original one.

maybe some toolbars redirect to their own 'google' page?

As long as they don't get away from what I like best. The main page loads fast, and is clear of any ads, news, and other junk. :)

Well, the key difference was that the Google AdWords were not in small colored boxes anymore - the text was about the same size as the search results, and were simply separated by a vertical line. I just did another search and it is back to the old way now.... hmmm!

www.googlecheck.com searches the seperate servers (i think), but it looks confusing... i dont think it is to do with serperate IPs/Servers

I have the new Google for over a week now. I haven't seen any fluctuations back to the old style.
I look the nice clean look and feel of it, but I am not sure about the adwords. They look "too much" like a regular listing, and I can imagine they are taking a good bit of traffic away from the "free" listings.

I have a site that is #10 under a very highly targeted keyword. There are 9 adword advertisers to the right. In reality, my site is more like #19 now, because the users actually see all the adword listings before they get down to #10 :)

Now more than ever, it will pay to hold the top 2 or 3 positions.
