New type of spam???

Before Christmas I received what appeared to be a legit inquiry about one of my domains. Then a couple of days later, another email from the same person asking about the same domain AND 2 more domains. And today, I received a third email, from a different person/email using similar copy for several other domains. This appears to be an automated way to grab email addresses for spamming. Emails follow:

If interested, let me know what kind of price you would be looking for.

The emails used are [email protected] and [email protected]
Blacklist them.

Domain spam has been going on for quite awhile - most senders of such spam are domain speculators seeking domains to buy cheap; often paying way below market value.

Thus it's best to ignore such emails even if they are legitimate. If one truly wants a domain, they'll email the registrant with a personal, detailed message and/or will call them, etc.

I have received many such spam inquiries also.

I believe that Ron is accurate in his assessment. They probably come from individuals looking to pick up domains for next to nothing; and the process certainly may be automated.

I also got those.

And, the #3 email arrived twice last night. The first #3 listed a couple names that
are listed at afternic. And, then, another #3 arrived included the names from the first
email. And, he add a bunch more from my listing at afternic.

At first, I thought he was just bottom fishing. But, since I'm also getting alot of
empty emails. I started to wonder if hijackers are looking for non-functioning
administrative email addresses.

I did answer one of the emails asking him what he thought the domains were worth.
But, I haven't heard from him. :-D
